This was from my old blog, and I shall paste it here for reminder's sake. In 2014, I would like to remind myself -
1. Not to be controlled by social media and its illusion of popularity and/or mass approval
2. To finish any project or task that I begin (e.g. writing or personal DIY projects)
3. To be wise about the people I surround myself with, or attempt to gain approval from
4. To be a better daughter, sister and friend
5. Make a conscious effort to prevent feelings of envy. Remember that I have led a reasonably fortunate life thus far.
6. Don't opt out when given a chance to experience something new or once-in-a-lifetime. If you're given a chance to jump off a plane before you're mentally prepared, you will fucking jump off that plane and you will be happy that you did.
7. Try something new every month (30 days).
8. Update the Happy Jar whenever you have accomplished something, even if it's small.
9. Journal. Journal in obscene detail. Be bold in writing.
10. Keep yourself well-groomed and presentable as often/much as possible.
11. Be kind to everyone you meet. Give back as often as you can.
12. Not every problem can be rectified by you.
13. Give yourself at least two evenings of solitude and downtime per week, to recharge and become accustomed to being alone (and to clean your room)
14. Opt to read instead of listen to music when travelling.
15. Don't forgo special dates/events/opportunities and think it can be rectified or made up for at a later time (i.e. take situations for granted). Know that people attach memories and hopes to these dates so "making up" does not do.
16. Incorporate exercising and water-drinking into your permanent lifestyle
17. Protect and treat yourself as you would your closest friends. Advise her on her self-worth accordingly.
18. Learn how to cook, bake, clean and fix - how to live (NOT just survive) independently.
19. Meet and forge close friendships with new people.
20. Admit and apologise when you are wrong.
21. Have savings for the rainy day cab ride or air ticket (to someone's home).
22. Be open to criticisms and suggestions of improvement.
